The Daring Youth Hub
Start date: Nov 1, 2016, End date: Jul 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project consists of a six month EVS. The countries involved in the project are Finland and Jordan, with KVT Finland as coordinating and sending organization and I-Dare for Sustainable Development (I-Dare) as the hosting one. Two Finnish volunteers will contribute to the work of I-Dare, a non-for-profit & non-governmental Jordanian organization with its headquarters in Amman. The aim of this EVS is to counter the rise of on-line hate speech, by positively affecting the processes of social marginalization at the base of radicalization. In order to reach this aim, the EVS volunteers will: produce content for I-Dare's social media and website, write articles, make short videos and participate to I-Dare's Love Speech Campaign; contribute to a research on the linkages between youth, internet, radicalization and successful stories of de-radicalization; generate, collect and disseminate on-line positive narratives; help with the implementation of seminars on alternative media, courses of English language and an international voluntary workcamp. The project is expected to foster more inclusive and peaceful local communities and global society by: promoting the EVS volunteers’ awareness and capacity for action in the intersecting fields of social inclusion, sustainable development, inter-cultural dialogue, peace; supporting the individual and social empowerment of local youth at risk of radicalization; fostering the critical media knowledge and skills of the target group; decreasing the appeal and likelihood of on-line hate speech.
