The Cà Vendramin museum: a place of historical, cultural and tourist interest
Start date: Feb 28, 2005, End date: Nov 29, 2006 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project aims at implementing a number of actions to promote among the general public the museums present in the architectural site of Cà Vendramin (Rovigo). Known today as the Regional Museum of Land Reclamation, it housed from 1903 to 1969 the main draining centre for the mechanical reclamation of the Island of Ariano. Cà Vendramin can therefore be the first gate for all visitors of the most valuable Po delta environment. In this sense, the building should not be confined to the role of a mere memory repository, but must represent instead a cultural opportunity to learn about a major historical and environmental heritage and become a place where to spend leisure time and learn. The Cà Vendramin museum is therefore the logical support to several initiatives connected with local tourism and week-end excursions, which have an interest in the local gastronomic delights and the rural environment in general. The project provides the opportunity to promote and enhance the local environment in order to foster thematic tourism connected with the environmental and human history, which had a significant influence on the environment itself. In this way the project is going to qualify and diversify the supply of tourist services in the area which is potentially very significant but is still on the fringes of the most relevant tourist flows.
