Project is implemented in partnership of Kuldiga Local Municipality and Hyvinkaa Music institute.Both Kuldiga music schools with 200 students and Hyvinkaa music institute with 350 students are only music education institution in their region. Overall objective of the project -to promote national music and culture heritage of the Central Baltic region and develop innovative music teaching approach to strengthen and diversify musical education system. Problems and development aeas: - different approach and artistic and professional levels in teaching music, instrument and orchestra playing; - insufficient information and exchange on musical education system and musical activities in partner countries; - citizens and music schools are not well informed and acquainted with musical traditions and materials of neighbouring country; - study process is sometimes based on outdated musical material with insufficient use of contemporary material; teaching staff has insufficient experience working internationally and knowledge on teaching methodology in neighbouring countries. -insufficient material technical bases (equipment and musical instruments); - not enough popularized national music on international scale. Project consists of 4 Work Packages: "Project Management and Coordination" (general management of project activites), "Publicity and Information" (providing target groups with information of project activities and their development), "Development of musical education system" (training and introducing with new teaching methods as well as elaboration of methodological material), "Increasing culture exchange" (musical camps and concerts in order to present national music to wider audience). Expected results: cooperation and professionalism of the teachers and students will be raised as well as international cooperation promoted. Study quality will be raised since in Kuldiga music school there will be opened fully equipped class for studying theory of music. Innovative teaching methods will be introduced and presented during the conference on innovations in teaching music for children and youth. The project contributes to development of musical education methodology. As a long term impact there will be raised awareness of other countries musical and cultural heritage, through concerts citizens will be introduced to music of neighbouring countries and have become more aware and proud of their national culture. Achievements: The Bridge of Music project promoted the national music and culture heritage of the Central Baltic region by introducing innovative music teaching methods, whilst strengthening and diversifying the musical education systems in Latvia and Finland. The project partners worked closely in order to create common cultural products. Through the introduction of the Sibelius music arrangement programme, the students of Kuldiga Music School, together with Hyvinkää Music Institute, were given the opportunity to write their own compositions for joint concert programmes. During the joint concerts, the people of Latvia and Finland increased their awareness of the musical and cultural heritage of each other’s country.
