Terra Cotta Symposium
Start date: Jun 5, 2016, End date: Feb 4, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Tepebasi Municipality is realizing an international symposium each year under the name of “International Terra Cotta Symposium”, which is organized to keep alive the terra cotta tradition in the city of Eskişehir. Today to keep the terra cotta tradition alive, the municipality organizes series of event during the International Terra Cotta Symposium. The first one is the artistic dimension; every year 5 National and 5 International artists are welcome to our city and they are expected to create an artistic sculpture that is going to be exhibited in outdoor areas of the city in 16 days. Approximately 50-60 assistant students from fine arts faculties of different universities of Turkey are helping these artists to curve, form and fire the terra cotta sculptures. The second part of the events is social events; there are exhibitions, concerts and contests that take every day. The last one is scientific events; scholars (national and international) present their proceedings in 2 days and these proceedings are gathered in a book to serve for scientific and industrial resources/purposes.In each year this comprehensive symposium also hosting young people from abroad as the social media team under the leadership of the Tepebasi Municipality 19 May Youth Center. As in the previous year, during the 10th International Terra Cotta Symposium which will be carried out during September 2016 and October 2016 for 1 month, we are planning to work with 10 EVS volunteers who will attend the project from different parts of the world. It is also important for us to include young people with fewer opportunities like economic, Geographical obstacles into the project. Our projects have more than one goal. One of the main aims of the project is making further promotion of the symposium in international area through the social media with the help of our EVS Volunteers. The project also aims to familiarize and popularize the information about Erasmus+ Youth Opportunities and volunteering activities among young people, support creativeness and intercultural communication of the youth, provide them new opportunities in terms of employability and entrepreneurship, and also support them to be a global citizen. In order to reach these goals our volunteers will be responsible to prepare daily flyers, make and edit interviews with the artists, assistants, local producers, local designers and the visitors of the symposium, create and update the English Web Page of the symposium. Our volunteers also will responsible to participate to the informational meetings about Erasmus+ Youth Opportunities that will be prepared and presented by our social media team through using non-formal education techniques. Additionally, preparing daily flyers, daily Symposium Newsletter, organizing an Intercultural Evening presenting their countries, preparing a video about their EVS experience in the Symposium an Eskişehir, are going to be some of the works of our team in the symposium. All the project activities are conducted according to non-formal educational methods. By this means we believe that thorough these activities, both the volunteers of the Project and the young people who are going to participate to the events are going to raise their awareness about the youth opportunities that are provided by the ERASMUS+ Program. It is also believed that the project will support visual, linguistic, and written creativeness of the young people, develop their intercultural communication skills, provide them new opportunities in terms of employability and entrepreneurship, and also support them to be a global citizen. We believe that with the activities of the project we achieve our goals both in local level and international one. We believe that EVS is the one of the best youth opportunity in the youth field for young people who are learning by doing and experiences. As organization, our EVS coordinator and volunteers have lots of experiences in volunteering. We are working with youth and also we are Eurodesk contact point so we are ready for sharing our experiences and we are ready to learn new things from our volunteers for improving our knowledge.
