Tell Me A Story: Multilingual Interactive Learning for Tourist Guides
Start date: Nov 1, 2012,
"Tell Me A Story" project's concept is built upon the understanding that regions and cities of Europe need to become more language-friendly environments, in which the existing diversity of language and cultures is not only audible but also used to good effect. Key facilitators for intercultural dialogue in local dimensions and for cultural promotion are the tourist guides. As a result, their multilingual knowledge and their intercultural skills become essential. The project will develop innovative language learning materials adapted to the needs of the professional tour guides in 8 languages: BG, DE, ES, FR, HU, IT, NL, RO, with pertinent cultural input, Common European Framework at Levels A1-A2 and will create a user friendly e-learning space by using methods of autonomous and informal learning. The project will exploit modern local stories that discover to visitors domestic characteristics of life style through anecdotes, personal stories and contemporaneous fictions, and interactions between the traditional/historical places and the contemporary environment. Through promotion of target languages will be reached awareness raising on the advantage that language learning can offer to everyone. Project activities and products are targeted as well to general public and local policy makers while giving alternative opportunities for promotion of cities and regions, respectively, the specifics of local and national cultural heritage and modern life style through the language of stories. In this way dissemination of results is ensured at different levels. In addition to the transeuropean dimension, through use of ICT means, the project 's outputs will be available in a global context, thus promoting European cultural diversity even beyond Europe.
