During last years, rehabilitation activities have been becoming very important since the number of people with disabilities is growing for many reasons, like ageing of the population and increase of chronic diseases. The introduction of leading-edge technologies in the treatment of disabilities is central in order to improve the efficiency of rehabilitation and the access to health-care services. The conjunction Medicine and Engineering in the field of rehabilitation is the future for new effective methodologies. The objectives of the project TechReh (Technology in Rehabilitation) are to build up the capacity of Universities and Medicine Centres in Uzbekistan towards the needs of innovative rehabilitation techniques. TechReh will focus forward 3 main outputs:1. A Master Programme in the field of Medical Rehabilitation on the use of advanced technological solutions in rehabilitation to train Doctors and Medical Operators on innovative methodologies such as body Area Sensor Network; systems for monitoring patients during daily life activities or treatments carried out of rehabilitation centre; virtual reality and neuropsychological rehabilitation.2. A content management system acting as a web platform for regular dialogue, dissemination, internationalization and exploitation of education-innovation-research synergies in the field of rehabilitation. It will support some modules of the master in e-learning modality and will provide specific tools (forum, chat, database, etc.) for the development of an international network.3. The establishment of one stable office in each Partner University in Uzbekistan which will play a crucial role in promoting research and the use of technology in medical rehabilitation.Main impacts of TechReh will be on: patients which will experience new and effective treatments; medical centres which will reduce costs using innovative technologies such as home-rehabilitation; the scientific community which will benefit of new methodologies.
