Technology Enhanced Learning for Social Literacy

In a growingly diverse Europe, education for diversity and common European values is crucial for a sustainable construction of the European Union in social cohesion. The purpose of the Technology Enhanced Learning for Social Literacy (TEL4SL) is to provide an effective model that integrates solid pedagogical tools enhanced by relevant technologies that may be easily replicable in other European cultural and educational contexts, promoting active and sustainable European citizenship. Following UNESCO, OECD, EC and national priorities, the project gives the beneficiaries the possibility to analyze, interpret and understand from new perspectives, the most structuring themes of their personal development for active and responsible citizenship, by focusing in challenging activities that provide a strong experiential component. The project goals are, among others, to: - Promote a new vision of a pedagogical exhibitions that brings people of different age groups, social classes and minorities together, discovering the fundamental values that build peace and understanding. - Promote informal and non-formal technology enhanced learning environments and their permeability with formal education systems, which develop and assess personal, social and civic skills in a fun, innovative and creative way. - Develop inclusive and interactive software applications, with innovative pedagogical resources, to be used in mobile devices. - Develop and test ICT monitoring tools that allow following and assessing the learners’ patterns and outcomes of interacting and learning in pedagogical exhibitions and in classrooms. - Develop and deploy integrated Social Literacy training courses to key stakeholders for sustainable development and assessment of transversal skills in formal, no-formal and informal learning environments. In the end of the project, the 5 countries consortium will be able to have developed, tested and defined adequate technological equipment and regarding their strengths and weaknesses for remote multimedia and interactive content and learning process, not only school based, but also at pedagogical exhibitions and museums as a complementary solution for the consolidation of common European values and transversal skills in curricula implementation. As well as a sustainability model that that allows multiplication and replication to other learning settings in the EU, supporting entrepreneurial ventures in social services. This project builds upon successful projects, initiatives and experiences of the partner organizations, which are already united by a strong commitment for the Social Literacy agenda in Europe. It is the case of building upon the first European Social Literacy Review and Certification process and Database, developed at a LLP-KA4 project (DAVID), resulting in a 37 European countries Social Literacy Observatory of best practices in the area. It also gives a new and more ICT-oriented stage for the Social Literacy Online Community. And it is also the case of using the highly participated and media covered International Conference on Social Literacy in Portugal in 2014, with the support and presence of high representatives of the European Commission, European Governments and Royal Families, to reach new levels of impact.
