Teaching students with eating disorder
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Eating disorder is a growing problem throughout Europe. Students with eating disorder face great difficulties in school and future worklife. And they face great risk of dropping out of school. The project will update information about the illness for hospital teachers and homeschool teachers. Develop pedagogical methods in the hospital school as well as in homeschools to prevent student to drop out of school. Develop strategies that includes parents in the school community to secure the continuity of relationships between the family and school staff in oder to lessen the risk of dropping out. The outcome of the project will be accessible on the HOPE website for parents and professionals working with students with eating disorder. The project will be planned by by hospital teachers at psychiatric clinics in Linköping, Krakow and Torino. All togehter we will be four main organizer of the project. Contributers will be other hospital teachers from around Europe who during a workshop during the HOPE congress in Bucharest will bring their knowledge and experience into the project. The main organizer will afterwards make the outcome available on the HOPE website as well through more local channels. The long term benefit will, hopefully, be that students with eating disorder will be met in home schools, hospital schools and elsewhere by a better understanding and a greater possibility to maintain their role as a student and have greater ability to avoid droppaing out of school. By this they will get a better ability to reach worklife.
