Teachers Abroad for Language Experience (TALE)
Start date: Oct 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

ITIS "E. Mattei" is committed in increasing its presence in the European context and intensifying relations and cooperation with foreign schools and, in the near future, with foreign enterprises as well. The main objective of this project is to generally improve language competences of ITIS "E. Mattei" teachers, at all levels of foreign language experience. The focus is primarily on the English language, but starting from this project also the German language is taken into account. All the mobilities are based on the "staff training abroad" activity type. The mobility project involves 15 teachers who will attend courses in the timeframe October 2014 - September 2015 in 7 different EU countries. About half of the courses will take place in the United Kingdom; several other countries have been selected as well The list of courses includes:. - "basic" English language - "intermediate/advanced" English language (CLIL oriented) - "English language teaching", for English language teachers interested in advanced and new teaching methodologies - "basic" German language - teaching supported by ICT tools - sectorial training in English in technical and non technical disciplines The immediate benefit of this project will be the improvement in language skills of individual teachers. Positive results are also expected in terms of motivation of students and teachers, new language teaching methodologies, more widespread use of ICT tools in teaching activities, enlargement of relationships with foreign schools for sharing projects as well as for future implementation of students and teachers exchanges, awareness of a European dimension. In the long term ITIS "E. Mattei" is considering the potential opportunity of facilitating job placement of graduated students abroad. Recent participation in the Leonardo ZIGZAG project has pointed out that in some European countries (particularly UK and Germany) a potential growth in the demand for technicians might result in interesting job opportunities for Italian graduated students. A school environment supported by a solid knowledge of foreign languages is a essential prerequisite to this perspective.
