Teacher Development Project - Courses for teachers of English, is an educational undertaking intended for the Karol Szymanowski Complex of State Music Schools no 4 in Warsaw. The project enables the school education staff to further their teaching practice development by allowing them to participate in professional development courses abroad.
During the summer holidays, three English teachers will take part in a two-week professional development courses in BELL EDUCATION SERVICES Ltd in Great Britain. The teachers of Complex of State Music Schools no 4 participating in the project are employed full-time and have appropriate qualifications and sufficient language skills to take part in professional development courses in English.
During the courses the teachers will bring the subject knowledge up to date in the area of contemporary English as well as broaden the scope of their methodical and pedagogical knowledge. They will also get to know how to use authentic materials and modern information and communication technologies in the classroom. The development of teachers’ professional and language skills will be also crucial. Furthermore, they will learn about the culture of the visited country. The courses are a unique opportunity to spend time with the international group of teachers, to exchange and share experience as well as to establish contacts with English teachers from around the world.
This profession requires constant necessity of updating the knowledge and acquiring new skills and the knowledge throughout the working life. English teachers should constantly adapt to new social situations. The profession is also connected with personality development and regular involving IT / ICT into the teaching process. The teachers’ work is a subject of continuous monitoring and evaluation of head teachers, other teachers, students and their parents. This project will enable participants to further their professional development and improve methodological competence in another country. Consequently, it will raise the standards of teaching at Complex of State Music Schools no 4 and it will be the opportunity to improve the achievements of students. Acquired skills often provide a broader perspective on education, as well as ensuring the exchange of knowledge and best practices in education.
