Tartu International School is an English-speaking basic school. Our students and teachers come from many different countries. The school values co-operation, developing the students´ social and intercultural skills, and promotes an Earth-friendly and healthy lifestyle. The school has developed its own curriculum that takes into consideration the needs of the multicultural student and teachers´ body, and is based on the Estonian national curriculum. As a modern school Tartu International School hopes to develop its staff and leaders on innovative teaching methods and equipment. Using a variety of teaching methods and innovative approach in teaching are extremely important when educating the students who learn in a cultural and linguistic environment that is new to them. The staff mobility project of the school is aimed at raising the skills and knowledge of the staff in the field of educational leadership and innovations. Four staff members are directly involved in the mobility project - the educational technologist, a teachers´ representative and two representatives of the school management. Though its participants the project involves the whole school community - teachers, students, parents and partners. During the staff mobility project the educational technologist of the school and a representative of the teachers participate in the future classroom course "Programming for the 21st century classroom" in Brussels, Belgium. The schooling takes place in an innovative and unique classroom that gives the participants an insight of what a future classroom will look like. The school leaders participate at the biennial conference "Bringing leadership together" organised by the European School Heads Association. The topics of the conference concentrate on innovative approaches in school leadership. The participants of the project are highly motivated and have been involved in project planning from the beginning. The head of the school is responsible for general organisation and reports of the project. As a result of the project the staff members of the school gain and share knowledge, make contacts with other schools, get multicultural experience and inspiration for their work in the classes and school development. The participants can also share their school´s successes and experience with the colleagues from other countries and educational systems. Besides internal seminars, the staff of Tartu International School will share their experience with the teachers in other Estonian schools (e.g a seminar at Tartu Private Schools Heads Association, through the school´s website and blog). As a result of the mobility project Tartu International School will develop a curriculum for programming and get inspiration for composing a new development plan for period 2015-2018.
