Take pART - People Achieving Real Tolerance
Start date: May 1, 2009,
Project Take pART is Youth in Action 4.3 training course. It will be actualized in 11. - 18.7.2009 and it's duration is 6 working days. The location for this project will be Alkio-opisto in Korpilahti which is a part of Jyvaskylä in Finland. Take pART is for adults who are working with youngsters and are interested in drama. Participants are from Turkey, Northern Ireland, Bulgaria, Czech, Spain and Finland. The groups have 1 group leader and 4 participants to take part in our project. Altogether there is 30 participants. We have two goals in the project. First one is to offer further education about drama in education and especially about how drama can be used to deal with difficult themes. The second goal is to use drama in education to examine and to work through our own prejudices - whether they are shared by our cultures or those that may separate us. We have three talented drama mentors who will lead participants through the training. The project's main theme is prejudices. Drama in education provides a forum and tools to develop an understanding of ourselves and others. Besides drama, role play, improvisation and many other basic drama education tools we implement art in a broader sense as well, for example music and visual arts. All the work in the training course is done in small groups.
