PROJECT
FINISHED
Nowadays we can observe conflict situations rising on our eyes. In many countries situation is critical like in Syria or Ukraine. That's why it's crucial to build a peaceful cooperation and mutual understanding among young people from different countries, especially those suffering because of some conflict situations.
The aim of the project is to explore the global issue of peace building on a personal level and to prove that peaceful relationship between countries start with the relationship between individuals. We will also focus on analyzing examples of participating countries, to learn from old (historic) mistakes & to avoid new mistakes leading to conflicts. The project idea and partnership between promoter organizations was established last year, during a project within YiA that took place in Armenia.
The main objective of the project is to strengthen cross-cultural awareness of young people from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Russia, Sweden and Turkey break their stereotypes and prejudices about each other through direct communication and exploring the concept of Intercultural Learning. At the same time project aims to give youngsters the possibility to work in mixed nationality groups and exchange ideas and experiences as well as provide to them a platform for finding areas of mutual concern and future cooperation.
"Tag you on peace!" is a youth exchange between Armenia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Russia, Turkey and Sweden. The project will be
held in Stockholm region, Sweden, last 7 days (4th-11th August, 2014) and will bring together 5 participants (4 young people + 1 group leader) from each country, 7 from Sweden. Intercultural Youth Exchange will be focused on cross-cultural communication and cultural sharing between these countries. 32 participants from different organizations and socio-economic backgrounds will live, act, learn, share and explore together as one big family. Participants will be engaged in a variety of activities such as workshops, discussions, intercultural evenings, activities based on Salto tools etc. Mainly non - formal learning methods will be applied.
The program of the exchange includes creative and interactive exercises on culture, discussions and presentations about cultural diversity, simulations and outdoor activities. During the project participants will also take part in Peace Action including local community, what will be treated as the general rehearsal to Peace Day, that all participants are supposed to conduct on 21st September 2014 in their home countries, home cities.
We believe that project will bring numerous results. But among them, the most important is to encourage peaceful attitude toward "others", begin friendship and establishment of partnership and cooperation. Besides, the participants will also gain for e.g.
knowledge about other countries' situation, solution finding skills, team-building and team-work skills, intercultural dialogue, tolerance and knowledge about other cultures. Also some competences like: intercultural awareness, ability for making reflection, planning and project managing skills, entrepreneurship, creativity and language skills will be developed.
Potential longer term benefit is that our participants will have better awareness of conflicts and knowledge how to avoid them. Thanks to it our participants will be good examples worth following in their societies.
