SynergyCoach is an Erasmus+ project that aims to fight youth unemployment by improving the quality of youth work and youth projects. It consists of two main activities - two training courses for youth workers. The first training course is called 'SynergyCoach Decoded' and it was realised in April 2015. The second training course is called 'SynergyCoach Applied' and it was realised in July 2015. In the first training course there were 35 youth workers involved and in the second - 34. The participating youth workers came from Netherlands, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Latvia, Spain and Romania. Both training courses were delivered by 2 trainers, 1 facilitator and they were supported by 2 support persons. The first training 'SynergyCoach Decoded' was a coaching training course and it took place in Ravnogor, Bulgaria between 16th and 25th of April 2015. The training course was based on the philosophy and approach of the Synergy method and it served as an introduction to the method for the participants. They had the possibility to see what stood behind the synergy method, to understand it and learned to use it. The participants were also given the opportunity to develop their own coaching and facilitating style. The second training 'SynergyCoach Applied' took place in Ravnogor, Bulgaria between 3rd and 12th of July 2015. This training course was an application of the synergy method and the youth workers had the possibility to experience the method with full participation. The build-up of the training course was done in such a way that the participants could embody powerful self-coaching tools. They learned to use those tools for their own development and uplifting, as well as in youth work and youth projects. The main methodology used during both training was experiential learning or learning by doing. Specific methods included simulations, role-plays, experiential games, giving and receiving feedback, reflection and self-reflection, working with media, experiential learning, interactive discussions, brainstorming, outdoor activities and more. As a result of the trainings, each partner organization now has between 3 and 6 youth workers trained to use the Synergy method; and they are already applying them in further projects that they realise. Each partner developed at least one project based on the current project and as a result, it is estimated that approximately 350 youngsters had the opportunity to experience the method. Manual was created to support the youth workers and the partners in implementing the method. Through the partner organisations the manual were distributed all over Europe as an alternative approach that gave new possibilities for working with youth and supporting them throughout their journey towards fulfilment in today's challenging world. SynergyBulgaria's mission is to have positive impact on the society by supporting and empowering people to improve the quality of their personal and professional life. With this project we aimed to tackle one of the most painful issues that was decreasing the quality of life in today's Europe and that was the long term unemployment among the youth. Our path as youth workers (of all our founders) started in Olde Vechte Foundation in the Netherlands, where we worked in several projects connected to unemployment while using the Synergy Method. This method has been used since 1990 and nowadays more and more organizations are using it, fully or partially, which proves that it works. It is an empowering method that can be used in daily youth work and as a starting method of youth projects such as trainings and exchanges. It gives common ground for all the participants independent from any national identities. We want more individuals to be trained in this method which will impact positively the quality of Youth work and the quality of youth projects.
