PROJECT
FINISHED
The project was started in response to the need of the Museum of Eastern Bohemia in Hradec Králové to provide its staff with international experience, following the completion of a previous project, funded by ESF, which enhanced the introduction of a system of further learning in the Museum. This previously completed project has shown us that educating the Museum staff abroad may be another step in the professionalization of the Museum´s activities. This proposition was subsequently implemented in our application for funding within the Erasmus+ programme, and it proved successful. The ongoing project titled “Museum 2020 – Professional museums need professional, well-trained staff” has shown that all participants have managed to exploit the gained experience in practice, and are now able to use their newly-acquired experience, knowledge and skills when doing research, preparing exhibitions, and also when presenting their findings to the public. The proposed project builds on this philosophy. 21s-century museums must be open institutions, keeping up with modern trends, which will, among other things, be ensured by their staff. It is therefore in the interest of such institutions to delegate their staff to participate in study visits abroad and encourage them to establish and develop their contacts with their colleagues in other countries. We expect the total of 10 people to take part in the project in the form of 2 courses/training visits and 5 job shadow visits. The anticipated outcomes of the projects are scientific: acquisition of new knowledge, its comparison and implementation in specialist work within the topic areas of the war of 1866, mycology and palaeontology; comparison and shadowing of practices in the fields of museum educational activities and modern history. Further learning and contacts with institutions abroad will be implemented in practice while realising the project of building a new modern exhibition, and when re-building the Museum´s depository into a modern, open depository run by the Museum of Eastern Bohemia in Hradec Králové.
