Sustainable use of the unique values of the sea and coastal areas of Kattegat and Skagerrak (Hav möter land)
Start date: Aug 31, 2010, End date: Aug 30, 2013 PROJECT  FINISHED

The overall aim of the project "Hav möter land" was to contribute to a sustainable use of the unique values of the sea and coastal areas of Kattegatt and Skagerrak. The vision was to create a ecosystembased management and proactive spacial planning of the Kattegat and Skagerrak area involving all administrative levels and relevant stakeholders where usage goes hand in hand with environmental consciousness and where interests are managed in a context of climate change adaption. The project "Hav möter land" built on the former project "Forum Skagerrak". However "Hav möter land" included a larger geographical area (including Kattegatt) and involved more administrative levels (local, regional and national). "Hav möter land" intended to develop common tools, methods, platforms for exchange of information and knowledge. The project also intended to produce a regional climate model, vision and guidelines for crossborder strategies for a sustainable management and use of the coast and sea of the Kattegat-Skagerrak area. These were based on the knowledge of today and in a context of adaptation to climate change. The project also enforced the link between management and scientific knowledge, which contributed to create a dynamic adapted ecosystembased strategy of the region.
