"Sustainable Tourism Agents in Rural Societies" or "STARS" is a project that links youth from the Canary Islands (Spain), Madeira (Portugal), New Caledonia (France), the Solomon Islands (Oceania), Chile (Americas), Sri Lanka and Indonesia (Asia). The project aims to create a new method as an answer to such worrying islander youth problems as high unemployment level, low project management and promotion skills, and leaving the small islands and rural zones. STARs method will be designed using the sustainable tourism hike creation experience of all the partners from 5 continents. This method will potentiate community based hike creation as a youth empowerment tool, thanks to the multiple skills that it helps to develop. The project activities will be supported by both transnational and local volunters as well as youth workers. During the multiple project activities wich include training and assesment, a wide range of promotional materials will be created as well. The proposal is a result of the previous islander youth network projects that in the year 2012-2013 linked 13 European islands and in the year 2013-2014 widened its collaboration to 6 islands from 5 continents.
