SUB-SCRIPT has merged approaches to enhance learning and job acquisition, resulting in a comprehensive web based, interactive system serving the re-integration needs of disadvantaged job seekers (and their coaches) in many areas: learning, social-economic empowerment, external services and support. Clients and coaches have a coursefinder and an e-Portfolio at their disposal.SUB-SCRIPT started from a multi-disciplinary vocational training and reintegration methodology, as developed by the LdV pilot project Social Return (2004-07), but it has incorporated other innovations as well, like easy access to online courses and support tools aiming at employment.The SUB-SCRIPT web based system includes a Coursfinder ("roundabout"), based on basic search engine technology, pointing the user at available courses and a personal digital portfolio system, helping the user to document learning progress, career development and to present this in a Europass CV, which can be extracted from the e-Portfolio in a one click (easy) action. These innovations match perfectly with the re-integration methods of the Social Return project All project partners saw their service offer being enriched by these new services.SUB-SCRIPT targets people threatened with exclusion: mental and/or physical disabled people, long term unemployed, immigrants, early school leavers. A protocol coordinator (case manager/trainer/mentor) supports each individual client via learning towards employment. The SUB-SCRIPT platform proved to be very effective during user testing: the response of disadvantaged users and their mentors was more than encouraging. Users have direct and easy access to online tools: ICT is part of daily life in all European societies. Online services were hardly available in the reintegration sector, probably because people with special needs are not regular users of such systems. The SUB-SCRIPT system allows the clients to present themselves to employers, to find courses for further personal development. Privacy and data protection is secured by user ownership of each persona portfolio, which is another element of innovation transfer. All clients and supporting experts who worked with the original Social Return approach have explicitly acknowledged it's power, but never failed to ask for an online and interactive version: SUB-SCRIPT is the answer. User experience has been used for fine-tuning, ensuring adequate support for persons with special needs.
