PROJECT
FINISHED
“Sun for inclusion” was a short-term EVS project and it lasted for 15 days. The main goal of our project was an integration and dialogue between people with autism and people without disabilities, and, of course, between their parents and families. The project by itself was also a big opportunity for intercultural communication and relationship, which was provided by volunteers from different countries and nationalities. We have also included volunteers with mental handicap to our project. So cultural diversity was the other aspect of our summer camp project. For the young volunteers it was an opportunity to:
• know new people and to be involved in the life of diversity,
• express their creativity and initiatives,
• share their experience and knowledge,
• be privy to the problems of people with autism and their families.
The participants of the camp had an opportunity to participate in different creative works (dancing, singing, painting, sport, competitions). It gave them a great opportunity for breaking stereotypes, developing tolerance, empathy and mutual understanding.
For the selection of volunteers we put an emphasis on creativity and initiatives for organizing different activities and events for children with disabilities.
During the camp volunteers had an opportunity to present the culture of their country of origin. They have presented typical food, beverages, dances, and habits.
