Such an honour
Start date: Feb 2, 2015, End date: Feb 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

„Such an honour” project was a youth foreign exchange for young people aged between 13 and 18 from Poland and Czech Republic. This meeteing was concentrated on Middle Ages, times of knightly culture and chivalric ethos, close cooperation between Opole Silesia and Czech Republic and the period when the United Europe’s time has begun. The idea of the project has born thanks to tightening cooperation between young people from Chorągiew Opolska ZHP and Czech Junaka. This cooperation took on a wider dimension than only close-border one. The subject, that comes from common interests of young Poles and Czechs and one of the most popular areas of cooperation between nations in our region, has become the base to build the varied program. Young participants from Czech Republic and Poland created together knight’s city on the area of historical forts in Biskupice, where knightly families lived together (each of these families had its own coat of arms, symbols and habits, pennant). During the eight-day meeting participants learned about old history and habits, looked for what they have in common with each other and discovered again such values as honor, brotherhood, loyalty and respect, wondering if those values are the ones that we can build contemporary, common Europe on. Young people took part in many simulations, workshops, games and intercultural evenings, acquiring knowledge, expanding their horizons, getting to know, in most cases for the first time, the taste of the international adventure. Eventually, at the end of the meeting, they did many tasks for the local community, trying to answer how we can fulfill „knightly duty” nowadays. The summary was the preparation by each group a knight's game for younger children from their organization and create a graphic guide on knights attitudes today.
