End date: Aug 31, 2017
PROJECT
FINISHED
Leaders of Tomorrow is a youth-led, independent non-profit organization, active since 2007 in Jordan and regionally in the Middle East and North Africa. It is our mission to build a community of young leaders who are educated, critical, initiative-takers, and capable of serving their local communities creatively. We achieve our mission through our five initiatives, FADFED, Mustkbalna, Diwanieh, FORSA and Mo7aka that embody our values of freedom of expression, freedom of thought, education, critical thinking, public gathering, breaking social taboos and equal access to leadership, education and capacity building. Our main activities are public street debates (Diwanieh.com); gauging public sentiment at a grassroots level and inform citizens about policy changes and societal issues (Fadfed.org); simulation and role-playing retreats that provide eye-opening experiences on societal issues (fb.me/mo7aka); preparing high school students for university (mustkbalna.com); and a dynamic platform that builds capacity and shares the latest educational and skills development opportunities with youth in the Middle East and North Africa (for9a.com).The two EVS volunteers will be involved in different working areas of the organization, mainly in three of the above-mentioned initiatives (Diwanieh, Fadfed and For9a). Among many other options, the volunteers will have the chance to help organize events (such as public debates) and help the organization with their public relations efforts, especially in terms of social media. This project will hopefully maximize the positive impacts by accomplishing the promotion of the general values and ideas of a volunteering mobility project, such as active citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans and Jordanians. The EVS volunteers as well as the Jordanians coming in contact with them (volunteers, staff, neighbors, …) will have the opportunity to learn about another culture, common values and cultural diversity.
