STI's Education
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Jul 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

"STI's Education" training course is the result and a follow-up of the previously developed youth exchange by our association about sexual health of young people. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) constitute a pandemic and affect all populations, but it is the young people, who are the main victims. 50% of new HIV infections in the world, for example, occur among young people between 15 and 25 years (UnAids report 2013). The consequences of such infections are dramatic for the future: heavy and mandatory drug treatment for life, emotional shock to be assimilated by the young, his family and entourage, forced sexual behavior change, change of future prospects, social dogmas, etc. Another aim of this training that we are pursuing is to create networking between youth organisations from different regions of EU: France, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Italy and Poland through the topic of promotion of healthy sexual behaviors among young people using this as a great tool to improve young people’s Key Competences, empower them for implementation of personal ideas, taking initiative in own hands, and thus having also an essential impact of their place in the labour market in Europe. Sharing the experiences of youth work good practices among the youth workers of this project would be also a great added value for the participants of the training. In this project, we propose an innovative approach and sharing the tools, by which the participants can give a voice and actions to young people themselves in an international context, enabling young people to take ownership of this area of prevention of STIs and teaching safe sex behaviors, to build their own tools and means of communication to contact their peers in an innovative approach, responsible, civic and voluntarily behaviors. This project is going to be a unique in its kind when the peer education on health issues is going to happen at a wide intercultural scale. The youth workers and youth leaders got concrete tools and knowledge how to tackle this sensitive issue and will not be afraid to deal with the topic, when dealing with young people, as well as the fact that most of the youth workers and youth leaders are young people themselves, they also became the ambassadors of healthy behaviors to their peers, not only back in their countries, but making this internationally. They can implement the gained and "tested" on themselves practices when back home after this project with the young people they are dealing with.
