Staże zagraniczne szansą dla młodzieży niepełnosprawnej intelektualnie na integrację zawodową i społeczną
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project „Internships abroad as a chance for mentally disabled youth for professional and social integration” consists of two activities: professional internship for mildly disabled students and job shadowing for teachers specialized in professional education of mentally disabled people. The youth participating in the internship in training facility IB Berlin-Brandenburg in Frankfurt an der Oder will be specialized in the professions of cooks and assistants of hotel service. Two-weeks internship under the supervision of qualified job instructors in the canteen and hostel of IB will allow students to gain practical professional skills, as well as social and language competences, which are highly valued on the contemporary labour market. Knowledge and skills obtained by the participants during the internship in Germany will help increase their chances for effective job finding after graduating from school. Thanks to participation in the internship abroad, the effects of socio-intellectual inequality of students with mental disabilities will be at least slightly compensated. International internship will also help break resistance of participants to undertake new challenges. It will trigger in them the will to continue education, allow them to expand their thinking horizons, encourage to be more active. Improvement of quality of professional education in Polish schools for people with disabilities requires constant expansion of educational offer for youth, search for new solutions and increasing skills and competences of educational staff. Thus the second activity within the project will be a training course for teachers specialized in practical professional training of mentally disabled youth, organized in educational facilities for people with disabilities in Brandenburg and Berlin. Teachers will participate in practical professional workshops where they will be able to observe new methods of work with mentally disabled youth. Practical part of the training will be supplemented with information about educational system for professional training of disabled people in Germany and integration on the labour market.Partners to the project are Internationaler Bund Polska and IB Berlin-Brandenburg gGmbH, Betrieb Brandenburg Südost. Participants for the internships and training for educational staff will be recruited in Special Educational Centre no 1 in Krakow.
