Start for change!
Start date: Nov 1, 2015, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school is a body with legal personality employing 36 teachers, run by an Administrative Board and coordinated by a head teacher. Its aim is to provide high quality educational services in order to form generations that have key competences recognized at European level, that will ensure each pupil the ability to adapt quickly to social, technological and cultural changes. To succeed in this respect, the school must provide professional and personal development for the teachers. After doing P.E.S.T.E and S.W.O.T. analyses, we have identified weaknesses in the school’s human resources in two directions: ICT competencies and teaching-learning-assessment methods (a traditional, predominantly informative teaching style, focused on transmitting and acquiring knowledge at the expense of building practical skills and acquiring key European competencies). The team formed in our school has drawn up the ,,Start for change!" Project . The aim of the project is the acquisition of innovative, interactive methods and development of ICT competencies of ten teachers in our school by attending European training courses between November 2015 and November 2016, in order to increase motivation for learning and the quality of education. The objectives aimed at are: enrichment of our knowledge of interactive teaching methods in European countries, improvement of key European competencies (especially ICT and communication in a foreign language), encouragement of innovation in education and promotion of lifelong learning. The participant’s follows: need for training, increased motivation for educational innovation, ICT basic competences, communication skills in a foreign language, involvement and dedication in school activities, teamwork skills. By attending training stages, teachers will: enrich professional, linguistic and social competencies for the benefit of the school and its pupils; acquire and use innovative, creative, experiential teaching strategies in order to achieve a high quality educational process; acquire a range of abilities and competencies necessary for the pedagogic use of the internet and multimedia tools; acknowledge the need for change in the quality of the services offered by the school; enrich their knowledge of the culture and traditions of other European countries. Our project will go through three distinct phases: preparation (identifying the needs of the school, making a plan of action linked to organizational strategy, selection of participants, the conclusion of agreements with them, contacting training providers, selecting courses that meet the training needs of the target group, completing the pre -registration forms and agreements between institutions, cultural and linguistic preparation), mobility and follow- up activities.Upon returning home, teachers will start the following activities producing impact on the institution, students and local community: it will be published articles in the local press and it will be produced a booklet that will present the project to inform colleagues, parents and students. It will be set up a site of the school(MOODLE) where it will be disseminated all project activities. Special sections are devoted to e -learning and communication with parents and other local, national, and European partners. In the classroom there will be used all assets acquired during training methods, increasing student motivation for learning and for quality of education. E- learning resources and software acquired / created during courses will be used in teaching and training and there will be established new optional subjects at school level in ICT, both at primary and secondary level. Meanwhile there will be created e- learning courses, using applications offered by LMS MOODLE; demonstrative lessons will be held in methodical commissions. School teachers will implement innovative methods in education, leading to improvement of education and they will form an action plan on outdoor education, highlighting the benefits for physical and mental health. They will also conduct a campaign to motivate teachers and students to study a foreign language and for participating in European mobility; it will lay the foundation to future partnerships in Europe, that will develop the European identity of the school.By sharing the experiences lived and transmitting the knowledge assimilated, participants will value in their work the new skills acquired in a European context and they will provide support to organisation for achieving strategic objectives proposed, for the sustainable development of the institution.
