Search for European Projects

Stand up for your rights!
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

In the current, European and global context, it seems essential to work directly on forming citizens for a united Europe. Our goals are the acquisition of knowledge and active citizenship skills, improving language skills and the development of a critical but open mind. Our project will actively and directly work on problems of discrimination, including: stereotypes, religion, gender equality, disability, migration … We want to build a solid reference guide for a more equitable and tolerant Europe. We are all affected by these problems: the Spanish and Finnish partners receive migrants, the Polish school works with students with disabilities; our Czech and Finnish partners have extensive experience in the management of European and cultural projects and exchanges, and as for us, openness to the outside world is the vector of our action. Approximately 100 students and 50 teachers will be directly concerned with Erasmus + Club. In addition, hundreds are «spectators-actors" will participate in the forum theatre presentations. Each institution will have an “Erasmus + Club ". This extra-curricular activity will allow students, teachers and representatives of associations to reflect on and study the evolution of human rights to each country. The Erasmus + Club will create a virtual book using a multimedia tool illustrating their study. Using this knowledge they will create sketches showing human rights infractions. These sketches will be played in front of a public, then stopped, discussed and replayed where spectators become actors and interact on stage. This is the forum theatre. These scenes will be played inside the partner schools and in the communities. After the study of the evolution of human rights and the forum theatre activities the Erasmus + Club participants will study the simplified version of the European Convention on Human Rights. Then they will make posters combining the forum theatre themes and words from the Convention. These posters will be used to announce the forum theatre performances. During the mobility, the “Erasmus + Club” host country will present its virtual book and forums theatres in English. The theatre forums will be filmed. A selection of the best performances will be made and edited into a video. The video will be distributed to schools, cultural centres and local communities. The posters will also be displayed to promote the Forum Theatre performances. All productions will be found on the project web site. The impact of the project will be on two levels. Each participant will have a better knowledge of the history of human rights, the values that founded the EU. In this way we will strengthen the sense of belonging to the European community. This can't be done without being open to others, accepting the differences. The EU motto is "United in diversity". Developing language skills in English is critical for this to happen. The second level of impact will be on the teachers. Teaching methods will be enriched, educational resources will be created, and there will be opportunities for exchanges and networking. The virtual books, the filmed Forum Theatre presentations and the posters will be published on the project web site and can be reused by all. Teachers will be trained in the method and techniques of Forum Theatre. Students will be made active participants on human rights issues, never to be passive in the world around them. The EU is what we make of it. A framework, principles, and commitment are necessary to achieve this. The framework is the European Convention on Human Rights and we want to promote a deeper understanding for all.
