Our development plan says that we have to become better at classroom managment, the integration of ICT in education and evaluation. Furthermore we should develop our capabilities to monitor and evaluate our pupils in VET during their placement periods in enterprises and in this way promote their employability when they apply for apprenticeships. We should be able to get even better results for our puils and hold the drop-out rate low. Our own surveys have shown that these must be our priorities. Knarvik vidaregåande skule is one of the biggest secondary school in our county. We have teachers who are very interested in school development. For us it is important to get a view from the outside on our practice. We therefore continually use external experts to guide us in our work on our school development plan. Our internal and external surveys on our school have indicated in what fields we have the potential for change. We see that the exchange of experience with colleagues at our partner schools enhance our capacity to evaluate and make changes to our own procedures and practice. Our partners do not necessarily have all the answers but exchanging ideas with them will be important for how we will make changes at our own school. We also see job shadowing as a first step on setting up larger collaboration projects with our partner schools. We would like to stress the fact that it is important for us to use the same partner schools. The quality of our collaboration and communication is much better than if we were to change partners all the time. Our demand for financing is closely related to the number of teachers who are interested in going to our partner schools to learn. In jobshadowing we threfore apply for 26 candidates. Our demand for financing of courses in Spanish as a foreign language is coming from our 3 teachers who also have chosen the language school at the University of Salamanca. Knarvik vidaregåande skule has also the ambition to be one of the most active secondary schools in Norway when it comes to international activities. Participating in a broad variety of international activities will make our school more interesting both for future pupils and teachers.
