The KA1 project “St.Art 2! - Building European identities through street arts" is a multi measure project including a training course for youth workers and young volunteers and a youth exchange for young people with fewer opportunities aged 17 to 20. The training course will take place in Tortona (Italy) from July 2nd to 12th and will involve 42 participants aged 20 to 30 from 12 countries (Italy, Hungary, Ireland, Spain, Finland, Turkey, Malta, Cyprus, Slovenia, Poland, France and Portugal). The youth exchange will take place in Ballyfermot (Ireland) from October 25th to November 2nd and will involve 32 young people and 8 youth workers/group leaders from Italy, Ireland, Spain, Finland. “St.Art 2!” is the natural follow up of a process started in 2014 and culminated in the implementation of a youth exchange on street arts as a tool for social inclusion and european citizenship, hosted in Tortona in august 2015. The exchange allowed us to bring a group of kids aged 17-20 through a process of growing and through the recognition of their individual and european identities, as well of their role as active citizens. Participants gained individual and group skills such as self-esteem, confidence, ability to interact in intercultural contexts, respect, tolerance, solidarity, understanding team spirt. The results we achieved, inspired all partners to continue the experience, trying to make it more sustainable and lasting. This is why we decided to introduce a TC before the exchange, in order to give our youth workers and volunteers (those people who are daily working with young people in our centres, in the streets, in our projects) the competence to activate actions at the local level: we experimented, we lived a unique experience and achieved moving results, and now we want to keep doing it with more efficient and targeted results. We’re gonna stop, train (TC) and experiment (YE)... in order to START it all over again, planning together a strategic partnership that will allow us to work with street arts and disadvantaged youth on a long term perspective. The participants of this project will challenge themselves with street arts, in particular clowining, juggling and acrobatics. During both the TC and the YE we will have, in fact, practical labs complemented by different educational workshops facing and analyzing the topics of the project (and the tools and methodologies to address them - TC). This will also help to identify those elements that would help to build identity and sense of european belonging (values, principles, ideals). All the partners work with different groups of disadvantaged youth, with family problems, socio-economic difficulties, behavioral difficulties, etc. and ST.ART (1 and 2) is the perfect occasion to acquire those competences and tools (TC) to keep on involving these youth and to foster their commitment within the community and Europe and to work with young people (YE) on their own identities and roles as active citizens. In order to reach these objectives, we will use NFE methodologies and participatory approaches where decisions will be taken in shared and transparent way with all actors involved and where young people will be equally responsible. All labs and activities will aim at confrontation, dialogue and cooperation, through different techniques and tools (also referring to SALTO tools database). Moreover, we will create a support network around the project, involving different actors and stakeholders in the actual implementation of the project activities (municipalities, schools, etc.). In this way, and thanks to the dissemination activities we will plan, we’ll give visibility to the project in the local communities. The project will also include a street art festival (TC), final performances (YE) and many specific visibility actions (flashmobs, parades, kids’ events, etc.).
