The project "Sport Your Life" focuses mainly on the role of sports and aims to develop young people through sport education. The fundamental rules and ethics found in sports will give the youth the opportunity to be active citizens and positive contributors to their communities. It aims to teach youth leadership skills, team work, respect and tolerance. These skills will help creating capable effective future youth leaders. The project main objective is to bridge the gap between European (Swedish) culture and Eastern (Egyptian) culture. The project's duration is two years, during which the EVS volunteers will have the space to use and enhance their skills and talents, as well as learning new life skills and intercultural awareness. There will be 8 volunteers, 4 Egyptians and 4 Swedish; every 6 months ( July - December and January - June) there will be an exchange of 4 volunteers, 2 from each country. The volunteers will educate their colleague and share the experience and the knowledge they acquired throughout their stay. The EVS volunteers will be working on creating links between young immigrants from different cultures and locals in schools.
They will have the space to teach young people to integrate with the new culture by organizing sports activities and youth events. In addition, they will be provided the space to teach and introduce their own culture. The EVS volunteers will, also, assist in administration work in the organization. They will be encouraged to use their creativity to promote for sports and inspire young people with success stories from sports role models. The project will help increase the employability of the 8 EVS volunteers as they will have the ability to design their own programs, youth initiatives, educational tools and events in their countries. For instance, the Egyptian volunteers will go back with new skills and ideas about sport education, which is lacking in Egypt. They can work in local schools, universities, youth centers, etc.. They will also motivate youth and provide them with intercultural educational experience. As for the Swedish volunteers, they will get to implement their programs, and youth activities in Sweden. They will have the chance to understand new cultures better the integration of immigrants in their society. In conclusion, the project "Sport Your Life" has a main objective that is to bridge the gab between cultures through sport education as its key tool.
