Based on the principles of non-formal education, SPORT PLAYS MIXED is a social, educational and sports project, which advocates for gender diversity and equality between girls and boys; between young men and women in sport. The project will run from 03/05 to 10/05/2015 on the campus of the University Paris-Sud, Orsay (91) within the UFR STAPS and the SUAPS. It is coordinated by the PASSE-SPORT and co organized logistically by AEMSO. SPORT PLAYS MIXED is a youth exchange built around a workshop including also in the frame of the project a mixed football tournament and a European conference. Sport Plays Mixed develops multiply goals: to Strengthen European youth capabilities coming from different paths, cultures and different countries on the thematic of diversity and equality between young people of both genders in sport and society in general; to Encourage cooperation between European youth sport organisations; to Transmit the 3 main values of citizenship in connection with the theme: Gender, Citizenship, Solidarity; to Innovate and inspire the world of education and sport in Europe regarding issues of equality and diversity in the world of sports; to Develop critical mind of young Europeans regarding the issues of equality and diversity in sport ; to Encourage the participation of young people in the field of European sports policy . One of the tangible specific objectives of this youth exchange is to bring the young participants to create a European charter, listing the recommendations that highlight the role and educational, social and recreational importance of the establishment of a branch mixed in school sport in the territories of the European Union. This charter will be produced during the project and will be presented during the conference, which will take place at the end the youth exchange. The 25 young participants (included young leaders from each group) will be aged between 18 and 25 years old and will come from France, Italy, Spain, Finland and Germany. English is required. They shall be capable of speaking in public, in front of other participants and smaller groups during the workshops. Participants are required to have good knowledge about the sport in general, they should practice or practiced a sport (not necessarily in competition) and informed or involved in public debates regarding the place of women in sport but also about the potential role that sports practices shared between men and women, in our society. The main activity referred in the framework of this application is the workshop (working group), the young people will benefit. The participants of the 5-days working group are 20 young Europeans (10 boys and 10 girls) and 5 young leaders who will accompany them. Concerning the methodology it will be facilitated in the form of workshops, prepared by partner organisations, ENGSO Youth and partly with the young participants who have been selected. Three specialists from non-formal education organization ENGSO Youth will conduct the workshop in English. A mixed football tournament will be organised for 120 secondary school kids (60 boys and 60 girls from the Paris region) will take place in Bures-sur-Yvette in the context of this project. On the other hand, a European conference will be organized in partnership with French and European stakeholders in sport, education and youth sector, engaged on the theme of gender equality in sport. These two activities are centred on the main activity, which is the youth exchange. In term of general on the different individuals involved, this project will make them experts in the theme of diversity and equality between men and women in sport. They will be better able to discuss and exchange on the benefits that these practices may have on our society. They will gain a personal enrichment and the creation of new friends and potential professional network. This project will also strengthen transnational cooperation between European organisations involved in youth and sports theme. Finally, the project will strengthen the reputation and expertise of stakeholders who are committed to youth and sport but also will create a dynamic for diversity and equality between men and women in Europe, where several major European youth organisations work together to establish it permanently in the sports sector in Europe.
