Objectives The objectives of the project are: to demonstrate adaptations of sporting activities which link to inequality, inclusion and human rights, to discuss the relationship between contemporary sporting issues and inclusion, inequality and human rights, to highlight current sports-based projects and initiatives addressing these issues and to allow a space for participants to design and implement their own sports-based activities related to these issues.Number of Participants/profile There will be a total of 30 participants on this project. Additionally, participants will be asked to use their learning to design their own sports-based intervention to address the issues of inequality, inclusion and human rights.Methodology Experiential learning will be very prominent throughout the project. Based on David Kolb’s experiential learning cycle, this approach will provide a holistic and learning experience for participants. Based upon what is known about how adults learn, this is an appropriate approach given the age of our participants.ImpactParticipants will have a strengthened capacity to deliver sports-based activities which examine and explore inequality, inclusion and human rights. Furthermore, participants will improve their critical understanding of the relationship between sports and the issues of inequality, inclusion and human rights.Longer-term benefitsParticipants can pass their knowledge and experience to fellow staff and volunteers to ensure a strengthened and sustainable organisational capacity to deliver sports-based projects. Members of the participant’s target group will have a greater understanding of inclusion, inequality and human rights, and an increased desire to tackle these issues.
