Spolu dokážeme urobiť viac pre tých, ktorí to potrebujú
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project called "We can do more together for those who need it" took place in Nitra Slovakia. We hosted 2 long –term EVS volunteers and 4 shorte time volunteers in the project. Volunteers came from Macedonia and Bulgaria. This project taught volunteers to communicate and work with children and youth who lived in social institutions or were physically or mentally handicaped. Volunteers got involved in creative and sport activities under the supervision of volunteers and employees of YMCA. Apart from the creative activities , 2 long-term volunteers took part in tutorials and helped to work with children in a nursery. They also helped in the home for the elderly. The Bulgarian volunteer was moved to organization SPOSA for the last 5 months. During the summer the Macedonian volunteer helped with reconstruction in the sport area and he also got involved in the preparation and realization of children's summer camps. Volunteers prepared presentation about their country and EVS for their peers and for the public. They also prepared some workshops and taught children to work and to make their own presents and decorative items from readily available materials. By using these activities they helped children to develop their creative thinking and fantasy. They taught them new skills as well as games and also motivated children to sport activities. Volunteers kept meeting with children who found themselves in a difficult life situation and were at that time going through psychologically challenging period in their lives. The activities with volunteers helped children to handle these situations easier. Volunteers promoted the programme Erasmus+ during all the events. Young people from Nitra learnt more information about the programme from them and they can use this opportunity in the future which is available to all young people in EÚ. During the short-term EVS four Macedonian volunteers worked in our organization, 2 boys and 2 girls aged between 17 to 20 years. The short-term EVS took place in months June and July 2015. It was focused on the preparation and realization of summer activities with children. In June, volunteers joined the project Sport Park Klokočina which was aimed at the reconstruction of sports and recreation area, the area where we are located. They joined the event called Summer day for physically and mentally handicaped youth. In July volunteers took part in the children’s summer camps for younger children. They were preparing games for them, were making decorations and were directly assisting the camp leaders. Great benefit for them was their cooperation with the Slovak volunteer who dedicates to making films. They learned to work with a camera and they also played as actors. They learned Slovak language and Slovak songs. They also taught children songs they knew themselves. According to their responses, they got to know lots of interesting things about life in other country and learnt how to express their own opinions and how to be responsible for their own decisions. They understood that more freedom brings more responsibilities and they also experienced learning from their own mistakes.
