The project is called “Spirit of Openness” and it is part of the Youth in Action youth programme. We will have here a couple of young adults as volunteers via this project. They will come from Spain and Germany. “Spirit of Openness” will co-operate with a local international group that was created last year. The group consists of teachers and students from schools, public and private youth services and private persons. The volunteers will be given an opportunity to take part in free time activities for youngsters, eg camps, clubs, happenings and trips. The volunteers will also take part in basic youth work working by, among other things, supervising the youth service premises. The EVS volunteers will work with the youth service of the town of Kemijärvi and a private youth organization called Tunturilan nuoret (Youth of Tunturila), the local 4H-service and also schools. There are two other projects for youngsters in Kemijärvi this year and the volunteers will co-operate with them, too. We would like to let them use whatever special skills they have. The aim of the project is advancing European awareness, cultural diversity and social growth.
