Project 'Spice up your life' was organized in municipality of Zagorje ob Savi, Slovenia, by local youth center. Project supported participants in the acquisition of competences which improve their personal development and employability in the European labour market. Participating young volunteers gained new skills and competences. On the other hand, local youth gained informations on EVS and raised awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries. 11 youngsters, coming from 6 countries have learnt how to do their garden and how to prepare food. They’ve set 10 high beams (raised garden beds). Along with Zagorje secondary school students they exchanged knowledge about different cultures, countries and cuisines. They presented Erasmus + Programe, EVS, their culture and national cuisines at two public events. Special emphasis of the project was on dissemination. Participants have written their blog, they have set a profile on social network, they have made a short video and photo-gallery. Additionally, they have wrote articles for regional newspaper. Participants were from 19 to 29 yrs old. Some of them were youngsters with disadvantaged backgrounds and fewer opportunities compared to their peers. Learning process was based on learning by doing. There was a lot of hand work and many opportunities to learn for those participants who feel more comfortable learning this way. Project was echoing very well also in the media. Beside local TV and radio, we hosted reporters from national radio, newspaper Delo and commercial nation-wide TV. After the end of activity, local NGOs are taking care for new raised garden beds in Zagorje. And hosting organisation already organised a presentation event for some NGOs which are interest to do similar projects in the future.
