SPEAK, SPOKE, SPOKEN
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Jan 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Voreppe Youth and community center (MJC-MPT) was created in 1954 to accomplish many interlocking goals such as Independence and personal development, an access for all to education and culture and the opportunity for each member to contribute to a more consolidated and just society. It creates social networks in a friendly positive welcoming atmosphere. The MPT-MJC is geared towards today's youth. It works to breakdown social and economic barriers; to construct ongoing dialogue and exchange in the hopes of creating a lasting mutually nourishing relationship. This international exchange project of based on feeding this dynamic. Despite intense media coverage, social networking we have come to the realization that certain youth find it difficult to see their themselves other than in their neighbourhood. Different impediments such as a lack of self esteem, linguistic difficulties, psychological hardships and traditional family culture make leaving even their neighbourhood a daring feat. This exchange will bring together 10 French, Spanish and Greek Nationals ( each) between the ages of 17-20 years of age, for eight days. Each group will be accompanied by two leaders in the hopes of distilling the difficulties. The group of will work on creating radio spots that will be diffused on the web. Different multimedia components will used including management of a web radio in Voiron (France), exploration of the information technology needed in this domain ( Greece) and the realization of the films and video spots in Spain. The youth will attend different workshops ( both technical and theoretical) to exploit their project. It will consist of choosing a subject, the interview (including public speaking and interview techniques as well as translation) and recording, the assembly and on line uploading. Throughout this experience they will learn about the freedom of expression, its limits and consequences. During the first phase of the project, which will take place in Voreppe, the group will work on combining their skills and creating a working partnership. After which they will attend the National Symposium of French Community Centers in Strasbourg. An exciting opportunity to mingle with over two thousand other youth , five hundred of which from other European countries which will be the base of their project. They will explore issues such as citizenship, the place of the youth in society, training and employment, mobility, health, sports and hobbies. Their handiwork will air on two web radios.
