PROJECT
FINISHED
The idea of the project started in University on Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy open-university by the students of youth work. Studying and practicing youth work all over Estonia (Valga, Otepää, Viljandi, Tartu and Tallinn) the team has noted some problems in the community.
Based on problems the objective of the project is to develop young peoples (including young people with less opportunities) social skills, cultural competence, creativity and knowledge of health and well-being.
We wish to wake interest in youth to acquire new knowledge using different adventurous and creative studying methods, where the activities are fun and enthralling. Main activities have 4 directions, on what the projects different activities are based. Those directions are creativity, culture, health and wellbeing. The preparatory and follow-up activities are carried out in Estonia and Malta and youth exchange activities in Valgamaa.
Number of participants in the project is 28, half of them are from Estonia and half from Malta. From Estonian side takes part 6 older youth (also project team), who will help and support 6 youth with less opportunities, who are chosen from Viljandi Kaare school (3 young) and also amongst Valga youth centre visitors(3 young). Also there are 2 Estonian instructors. Youth from Malta is chosen with the same principle (older and younger, in need of assistance and people who give assistance) and instructors. Together we are acting as united equivalent group, where we study and support each.
The project is led by core project group. Each of them has their own area of responsibility. All group members have certificate of camp counselor and different experience at organizing projects or taking part in projects. Other participants are actively involved in all activities.
Expected impact of the project is to give lots of new experience in different areas to youth: language practice, new skills, both Estonia and Malta cultural awareness, increased young people's interest in harnessing new knowledge and experience, the experience of organizing international projects.
In the project team young people get big benefit because in the future they start working with youth, so they can base on this experience of organizing and working with young people.
In the future perspective young people turn into more open-mind, confident and informed of different opportunities in their lives.
Everybody who is involved in the project gets great experience.
Results and prepared workshop activities are share after project in Estonia and Malta youth centres and schools for other youth and presenters will get positive attention (they will have better confidence and presentation skills and presentation courage). Members of community get knowledge about youth activities and project opportunities also through media.
When the partnership is success the participants together will plan new projects based on the needs of youth.
