Music has always been an important part of human society, culture and tradition over decades, centuries and even more ? for thousands of years. Music is the ultimate ?instrument?, which gives us the opportunity to connect and learn from each other.
However, our today?s world-society is sometimes driven apart, due to several reasons and we are facing conflicts, where some of them even end up in wars, as the last sceneries in the Ukraine and Syria have shown us.
As already mentioned ? Music is a unique experience, which offers an extremely high variety of opportunities to connect within a nation, but even better, also between various nations and continents. Barriers as cultural differences or different languages can be bypassed with the use of music and its related fields (e.g. dance). Human beings who couldn?t be more diverse are sharing at least one parallelism. The parallelism of music.
Dancing, singing, acting, playing instruments and many more musical activities are caused or surrounded by music. The goal of this exchange is to connect as one big European culture using music and dance as an informal education method.
The Sound of Europe is a multinational Erasmus + youth exchange program taking place in Austria (Carinthia - Grafenbach) from 19.7-26.7.2014 which will give the host participants and the 3 partners from (Spain, Greece and Latvia) the opportunity :
? to learn about new ways of informal education
? to share their national music and dances (culture)
? to connect through music and dance in an easy way (no music skills needed)
? to improve their youth working methods and skills
? to reduce prejudices
? to create a feeling to be a part of one big culture
Each partner will provide 6 participants + 1 group leader. (TOTAL: 28)
During this week the participants will attend fascinating music- and dancing workshops in small personal groups. They will ?taste? and get inspired by new cultures and form international friendships for a lifetime. Furthermore have the chance to enjoy a unique leisure time program related to the topic where participants can learn from each other. (See program).
We want to sing, make music and dance for CHANGE and EQUALITY, to give the participants the opportunity to learn from each other and accept each other?s culture.
The overall goal: European citizenship has to become a feeling.
