The EVS project "Sonseca Juventud Activa" will be carried out in Sonseca, a town in the province of Toledo (Spain), with a population of 11.500 people. The socio economic context has changed drastically within the last years. The town used to be a national reference industrially and economically, however now it is facing high rates of unemployment, especially among young people. This has generated social consequences such as emigration of many young people to other cities or to other countries, looking for more opportunities and more prosperous future.Furthermore, the economic stagnation has driven to a passivity and apathy from many of the young people who stay here, since they see a future without opportunities, feeling powerless towards the situation. Under this context, the objectives of the project are:-To improve the youth dynamics in the town of Sonseca-To promote a social and civic participation and involvement of youth at local level.-To foster the creation of a net of active participation, making different public entities to take part in it and stimulating new forms of cooperation between them, working transversely and having Youth as the main focus of interest.-To establish new bonds between formal and non-formal education at a local level.-To motivate young people to start socially responsible actions and to have initiative, in a local as well as in a European level.-To promote the inclusion of people in risk of social exclusion and facilitate their integration.There will be 1 volunteer coming from Finland, between 18 and 30 years old. It will be really important the motivation of the volunteer to work with different kinds of groups such as elderly, people with mental disabilities and young people in general. The volunteer should also have interest in youth dynamics, social integration and social participation. They will do activities in different sections of social services such as Youth Centre, Social Centre, High School, and Centre for people with disabilities.In the Youth Centre the volunteer will do organizational and management tasks, as well as preparation and execution of activities aiming to promote creative and critic thinking among young people, through workshops, courses, debates, games, quizzes, etc. Also, the volunteer will have the opportunity to create or to help in the creation of new activities.In the Centre for people with disabilities they will do occupational activities, such as handicrafts, and other activities like accompanying them to the swimming pool or to the street market. Also, depending on the volunteers interests and motivations he/she will be encouraged to organize new activities with them, always under guidance and orientation.In the Social Centre they will do activities of cognitive thinking and development and others with elderly through different workshops, games and different exercises. They will also do activities with young immigrants in order to improve their social integration.In the High School they will do activities to increase sensitivity and awareness about social issues, as well as personal development activities. Different kinds of workshops, games, trips and other activities will be used.The volunteer will also participate in the activities or events organized by the hosting organization “Identity: build yourself”, which will normally take place in the Youth Centre. He/she will also collaborate in the maintenance of the social media of the organization, advertising and disseminating the different actions and activities of the project.The volunteer will also have time in their schedule to create or collaborate in the creation and organization of new activities where the different groups mentioned above will gather together, promoting new bonds among them and a real social integration.She/he will be always guided by his tutor and coordinator and will have always a reference person in every activity.We expect the project to have a great impact at social level in the town. It will help to create more social and civic involvement among youth and also to foster and improve a net of social cooperation at structural level, among the bodies involved and local society in general.In an international, the project will motivate young people to be more socially responsible and start doing projects towards that direction also in a European level.The project will be also an opportunity to break cultural barriers, learning from their diversity and applying it for a better future.
