Solidarité Participation Ouverture Respect ToléranceContre la Discrimination et la Différence et pour la Dignité
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Apr 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

This youth exchange project targets an audience of disadvantaged youth and special needs, with fewer opportunities. These young teenagers, girls and boys between 15 and 17 years (10 from Italy, 10 isolated or foreign minors from France and 10 from Germany), come from popular districts or are in the care of specialized child welfare structures like Children's Homes. Most of them are cut off from a secure family environment that could allow them to make a good use of their potentiality and their power to act on their life plan. Some of the participants are children of refugees or foreign unaccompanied minors and are uprooted from their country of origin. This project aims to create for them and with them an informal exchange program that will allow them through this experience to update and to strengthen their knowledge and their skills in terms of knowledge, practical experience and soft skills, and develop their empowerment. This European program will allow them to meet other teenagers living similar situations in different institutional, political and social contexts and to share the ways they live their situations and the ways they try to solve the problems they face. These shared experiences will allow them to glimpse new ways of understanding their situation. The set up educational device will ensure that they take up the various phases of the project so they can really be actors of these various parts, by setting up a support plan with the accompanying persons, professional and volunteers, but also thanks to the voluntary assistance of a group of educators in training. Thus, the young people will be supported in the different activities contained in the program, the activities they chose themselves and they are responsible for. The activities are targeted to build together and to promote non-verbal communication. Some of the activities will be based on sports activities to highlight body expression, solidarity, emulation and respect for each other. Other activities will highlight the sharing of their tastes and interests. The objectives for the youth are to acquire skills between peers through mutual learning of the implementation methodology of the activities, but also the social skills needed for the many interactions provided by these activities. The evaluation and dissemination activities implemented with the youth will have a key role in the consolidation of these skills so that they are transferable in their life plan.Beyond the impact on the young people, we are also looking towards a positive impact in the organizations and territorial officials on the issue of these innovative practices that the European Commission promotes. We aim to make visible the empowerment of these young people in difficulty to increase the number and the scope of these initiatives.
