PROJECT
FINISHED
The purpose of the project SOFIA is to update and upgrade so far gained skills, education and competencies of our teachers to make the educational process more efficient, more modern, more interactive, more activating, more sensual, full of experiences, more socially and culturally variable. We have already carried out several project activities, but often without sufficient training. We assume that if we enable further training of our teachers in the methodology, didactics, special education, it will improve not only teachers’profession and teachers’ personality, but it will lead to more motivated, more active, more cooperative, critically-minded, tolerant and culturally conscious pupils. The result would be steadily improving social climate in the school, in each class and the educational process based on a partnership between astudent and a teacher, and based on respect of cultural and social differences. We plan that our pedagogical staff will attend 11 training courses focused on methodology and didactics. In foreign language teaching we would like to focus on CLIL; on multi-sensory, experiential and interactive ways of working on all grades of our school. Another priority for us (now often neglected or underestimated) are art subjects. We would like to enrich these subjects with new elements of activating methods. It includes mainly Art, Music and Drama classes on all grades of our school. We would like these school subjects to be more communicative, more creative and more exploring with obvious and visible results not only from the inside (pupils, teachers), but also from the outside (parents, society). We would like to implement specific cultural traditions of other European countries. We can also see some imperfections in work with children with special needs and with socially disadvantaged children. In last few years the number of these children has increased and so it is necessary to give them more attention and to deal with these children according to their needs. Therefore we plan such types of training (for form teachers and educational counsellors), that will help to create inspiring and socially inclusive atmosphere in classes and the whole school. It will make the work with nonhomogeneous groups more effective and more cooperative. We would like the school management (headmaster, deputy) to participate in this project, because it is responsible and guarantee the further progress of our school.
