SLIC - Sustainable Learning in the Community - Raising Awareness of Older People's Competencies & Identifying New Opportunities for Learning and Engagement
Start date: Dec 1, 2007,

The SLIC project aimed to empower older people to become active citizens, encouraging the development of skills and competences through formal and informal learning opportunities and through directly linking the concepts of lifelong learning and community involvement. A two-day competence workshop was developed and delivered, involving older people from a range of different backgrounds, which allowed participants to develop personal skills profiles and action plans for learning and community engagement. In terms of outputs, a SLIC handbook was developed, aimed at adult learning organisations considering the future hosting of similar workshops.
