Context/background of project:
Neretas Jāņa Jaunsudrabiņa vidusskola, in the sphere of development and internationalization needs to raise the teachers` competence based on the acquisition of new teaching methods, improving learning process to make it more interesting for both students and teachers, learning of foreign languages, practicing international projects that unite all of the above into the European dimension .
Objectives of the project:
1) To improve teachers' competence by learning new techniques, learning or improving their foreign language skills.
2) To combine the experience in the other cultures and educational systems with the teachers` existing work experience, based on the Latvian life and culture.
Number and profile of participants:
Nine teachers, two of them are deputy directors and a school librarian. Represented in the following subjects: chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, informatics, history, cultural Science, psychology, Latvian language, arts.
Description of activities:
1) job-shadowing in Berufsbildende Schulen Peine / Germany
2) learning the English language in English in Margate / England
Methodology to be used in carrying out the project:
Job observation, exchange of experience, foreign language (English, German) learning, tours, meetings, interviews, analysis, comparison,
Short description of the results and impact envisaged:
It will increase teachers' competence, based on international experience and in-depth learning of a foreign language. It will provide exchange of ideas and work experience, getting to know another national education system, acquisition of new, interesting experience and insight of what teaching methods are used in German and English schools. Experience how to motivate and encourage youth to participate in learning and how to compete in the labor market will be explored. Learning materials encouraging creativity will be developed.
Potential longer term benefits:
Formation of creative contacts. Cooperation with partners will continue. The skills to work with Internet resources and methodological literature in a foreign language, conversational skills will be improved. Lessons will be more attractive. It will be a good help for students in their research work and preparation for subject contests.
Attending a language courses in an authentic environment, teachers will enhance their professional prestige in both students and the public eye. Teachers will have access to diverse information online that will help prepare more effective lessons in biology, physics, informatics, arts. The school library will become a versatile and richer information center. All participants of the mobility will become more successful in the actions of international projects (Erasmus + eTwinning). The school will advertise itself as a high-level educational institution in rural area, attracting more students.
