PROJECT
FINISHED
„Obrtničko-industrijska škola u Imotskom“ is a vocational school. This project is unanimously supported by the faculty and staff, as well as the head-master and members of the Teachers' Council. Considering the fact that we have had previous experience from earlier projects, we have concluded that we should continue to educate our students through practical work abroad, and utilise our only available opportunity for such education, the Erasmus+ programs. This program is a genuinely unique opportunity for our students to visit and study at such high-quality institution as AENIE (Associação Educativa Nacional de Inclusão e Inovação nas Escolas) which we opt for in Portugal. Trainings and specialisations of this kind are very sparse in our country, and if there are any, our school does not have enough resources for them. The participants in this project are students who chose to become very qualified chefs . This occupation is very interesting in our labor market, and also popular in other countries of the European Union. Taking this into consideration, our aim is to provide our students with the opportunity to perfect their practical knowledge, with more practical work, which will further improve their skills and competence acquired through formal education in our school. The aim of this project is to improve the skills and expertise needed for a specific vocation through working in a foreign institution, to acquire the work culture which matches the European standards, to develop critical thinking and language competence, which will all increase our students’ chances for employment on the labour market). the main goal)of the project is introducing and mastering new methods of food preparation, improving language and communication skills, encouraging students’ independence in everyday situations during the mobility. The best students from all levels (the first, second and third year of vocational school) will be selected to participate in this project. We think that a period of one month would be optimal for our students to really acquire quality education and training in Portugal. Our school is located in Dalmatia, some 20 kilometres inland, close to the Adriatic Sea, in one of the most developed tourist regions in our country. Numerous hotels, restaurants and other catering facilities crave for quality chefs. Most of our students spend their summer holidays working and acquiring practical knowledge in some of these facilities. Our school enrolls students from neighbouring towns and villages, as far as 50 kilometres away. Even our small inland town of Imotski has recorded an increase in tourist activities in the last few years, marked by a higher number of foreign visitors and increasing number of catering facilities. All of this means that quality work force, such as chefs graduating from our school, will be greatly needed. The project is expected to last 12 months. We plan to send 12 students accompanied by 3 teachers, since the students are all underage. The accompanying teachers have been educating students and are familiarised with the activities and means of implementing the project. The training will be carried out in one month, plus two days for the trip,so the departure day is on 12.03.2017. and the arrival is on 12.04.2017.The activities which we plan to implement through this project are expected to have a long-lasting positive effects on the participants and our school.
