The aim of the project, with twenty-two partners in five countries, is to ensure that students in initial vocational education and apprenticeship training, in the hospitality and clothing industries, can carry out skills demonstrations during their on-the-job learning periods abroad as qualitatively as in their own countries. The project also aims at the best possible use of resources in the workplace and within educational institutions by clarifying the tasks and duties of different parties in planning, carrying out and evaluating skills demonstrations. The above aims will be achieved by developing manuals for students, teachers and workplace instructors on skills demonstrations and their efficient use and evaluation. The project will also develop short courses on evaluation of skills demonstrations by teachers in an effort to improve teacher competence in this area and will make these courses available via a 'Virtual Campus'. The project's Virtual Campus will be an internet-based learning space containing all project material in addition to a variety of teaching/learning exercises and will further act as a facility for online discussion and e-mail communication amongst the project user group. The project will result in an E-module, based on self-study, for teachers and workplace instructors, an S-manual, T-manual and W-manual respectively for students, teachers and workplace instructors. Products will be initially tested by teachers and workplace instructors and ultimately by students themselves. The European Forum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training will have primary responsibility for the dissemination of project results and will be supported in this at national level by all project partners.
