Slovak Republic is listed among EU member states with the highest youth unemployment (aged 15-24). By the end of 2013, the youth unemployment rate reached 33,5%. Experts agree that one of the reasons behind such a dramatic figure is the low quality of the education and training system in the country, its detachment from the labour market and therefore a low ability to reflect the actual needs of the labour market and society. In addition to the fact that one third of all fresh graduates is unable to find a job, only one third of young people is employed in the sector (profession) they have been preparing for during their formal education. Employers are also pointing out the exaggerated wage demands of young people; in many cases lack of interest in the profession and a very strong qualification mismatch; or weak ability to be initiative and flexible, which is very much linked with a weak social skills of young unemployed people. On the other hand, number of young graduates never had any real contact with the potential employers before they participate on the application project, and they are not prepared on variety of situation they may face during this project. Young people feel to be vulnerable and insecure, left out alone with no assistance or back up. The youth workers in Slovakia are only rarely covering also issues of job counselling or assistance during the job application process. This topics haven`t got any systematic attendance in the youth work practice yet and number of youth workers are not prepared to provide this kind of assistance. The proposed project is designed in order to enhance an opportunity for better understanding and more interconnections between world of young job applicants (students of the last year of the university), world of youth workers and world of potential employers. • Aims and objectives - To ease access of young graduates to open labour market via developing a training program empowering job-interview skills among young people (Outcome O1 Job interview simulator) - To create a new tools (training program) empowering youth workers on the field of work counselling and employment services (Outcome O2 Employment services provided by youth workers) - To create a solid inter - sectoral platform for organizations from various sectors (business sector, youth workers, local authorities) promoting youth employment primarily in Slovakia a transfer the best practice from abroad to Slovakia (Outcome O3 Special youth employment programs in cooperation with chosen employers) • Main project outcomes - 200 young participants in the last year of university studies (out of which at least 10% are with the health disability) trained and prepared for the job interview in any of the participating country - min 4 universities included to the program - Training program on the job application developed and published on the internet - Training program for the youth workers on the issues related to job counselling developed and 10 trainers specialized on the job couching in the youth work prepared - 10 business involved to the project and at least 5 business willing to continue in the project activities also after official end of the project - realization min 2 specialized programs for youth emplyment in cooperation with min 2 business subjects and min 2 municipalities and creation at least 40 new jobs for young people through these programs The success of the project is based on inter - sectoral cooperation, the project will utilize a knowledge of partner countries and specifics of job interviews in different countries.
