Side by side - society for all
Side by side - society for all
Start date: Aug 1, 2012,
The Youth Exchange “Side by side–society for all” has been developed in partnership between 7 youth NGO-s from 7 countries (Serbia, Italy, Albania, Turkey, Montenegro, Greece, Bulgaria) and should be realized in a Serbian town Sremski Karlovci 8-17 Sept. 2012. Five promoters, including the applicant/host, Young Researchers of Serbia, are members of the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations, and two are linked through partnership with the regional network, South East European Youth Network. It would include 35 participants, 5 per country, among which 14 young persons with fewer opportunities, whether with economical, social, educational disadvantages, disabilities, health problems. This project is a result of strong partnerships and a methodology on social inclusion developed by the Alliance Access for All Working Group. The main aim of the group to improve quality and enlarge number of activities for young people with fewer opportunities. The Exchange supports the Alliance in implementing its Accessing Policy regarding an inclusive voluntary service- by 2013 to use 10% of places in volunteer exchanges (out of 18 000/year) for young people with fewer opportunities. The main objective is to bring together people from different countries, social backgrounds and with different abilities, building an environment of mutual understanding, tolerance and solidarity, in order to trigger their personal development through practicing their active role in social life. A set of sport, cultural and artistic activities is planned that will stimulate interaction, intercultural learning, self-reflection and understanding of delicate concepts of diversity among the international participants. Not only we want to send a message against discrimination, but we wish to point out that no society is rich enough to dismiss and leave out a part of its population. Only by giving an opportunity to all to be productive and participate – one society can get truly enriched.
