SFM ON FOREST: DEVELOPING THE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION MODULES FOR IMPLEMENTING SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT
The ForestVET project is based on the previous two-year VETWOOD project supported by LDV Programme in 2009-2011 and PAWS-MED project supported by LDV Programme in 2009-2011.Initial developer of VETWOOD and co-management of PAWS-MED are part of the current ForestVET project partnership.VETWOOD achieved providing training methodology and materials for lifelong learning for vocational college students, forester, forestry engineers, university students, and professionals in Woodworking industry and SMEs in relation to vocational English language training. The project achieved through the development of useful training tools that would fill in the gaps in English language training within the system of VET.PAWS-MED was being well-prepared and qualified in communicative and pedagogic skills were a necessity for this task that was rarely obtained. General prevention campaigns were mostly ineffective. It was necessary to be prepared for specific groups with different approaches, strategies, tools, and activities. It obtained and shared the knowledge and competences (not only) for a better forest fire education, and simultaneously provide specific training to the foresters do close existing gaps. Such a project could have a huge impact in the quality of forest education and thus to the environmental PAWS-MED result was a European course concept for forest pedagogics developed all in all by 19 partners from 12 countries and the implementation of the concept in the vocational training system of the partner countries.By transferring English language training within the system of VET for forestry sector from VETWOOD and pedagogic skills, natural environment and sustainable forest management seminars' content from PAWS-MED, ForestVET project aims;To support developments related to the quality and innovations in vocational education and training by matching the languages skills with labour market demands,To provide training methodology and training tools for lifelong learning for vocational college students, university students and professionals in Woodworking Industry and SMEs in relation to vocational English language training,To educate technical and administrative staff, forest workers and forest villagers in world of work-forest industry,To increase their awareness and competencies about ensuring that the goods and services derived from the forest meet present-day needs while at the same time securing their continued availability and contribution to long-term development, To develop SFM VET modules for forest workers,people working in forest labor market, forest industry engineers, trainers, VET students in Turkey and EU-wide.
