The ageing process of European population is having impact not only on the health care field, but also on labour, VET and migration policies and process. In fact, the number of elderly people in Greece has increased in the last 10 years and has now reached almost the 19% of the population. Among them, 160.000 (and this number is going to increase enormously over the next decade) are estimated to suffer from Alzheimer's Disease or other Dementia that require a qualified assistance which is currently not sufficiently available to most Greek families. Families had therefore to look for alternative ways to take care of their vulnerable people, which are in fact cared for mostly at home (according to a Greek study carried out on Dementia, 80% of patients with dementia diseases are cared for at home), often with the support of informal care workers who are normally migrant women, mainly from Bulgaria or Greek women with low schooling, lacking of specific training. Training is in fact hardly accessible to these workers because of language barriers, costs, difficulties to conciliate it with the long working shifts they make. To answer these needs, the project intends to transfer in Greece and Bulgaria a training tool, originally developed in Italy, which provides training on elderly care making use of e-learning (in order to be available anytime and to be cost-effective). The pedagogical materials, currently available in 7 languages, will be adapted and translated in Greek and Bulgarian (to overcome the language barrier). The project is carried out by a multiplayer consortium: (1) NGOs: ANS, the original developer, from Italy and the Greek KMOP, with extensive experience in management of EU funded projects; (2) SMEs: Balkanplan, from Bulgaria, with extensive experience in training and consultancy and 01 PLIROFORIKI, an e-learning company based in Greece; (3) Patients organisations / end users: the Athens Association for Alzheimer Disease and Related Disorders, the Bulgarian National Patient Organisation and the Bulgarian Society of Athens; (4) A public body, the Greek municipality of Korydallos.The main project outcome will be two locally adapted versions of the training tool, in Greek and Bulgarian, which will be experimented and widely diffuse. Collateral outcomes will be dissemination and exploitation tools, such as the web site, public presentations and a final conference.In terms of envisaged impact, it is expected to be significant both numerically (the partnership can reach directly over 2000 end-users and stakeholders) and in terms of results of employability and empowerment of target users, which will finally be able to have access to a proper training which will improve the quality of the service they provide. This training tool can be used by the training tools that they can use by the users autonomously, without the need of a trainer or a supervisor.
