The project "European Voluntary Service at CMEF" involves 3 young European volunteers, between 19 and 22 years old, who will be working at the Centre Méditerranéen d'Etudes Françaises (CMEF). Each year, the CMEF hosts between 4000 and 4500 international middle and high school pupils as well as students in the framework of its courses for French language and civilisation, or its cultural and artistical trainings.
This project's objective is to reinforce intercultural education among the people hosted at CMEF and to developp creativity and culture. This is also an opportunity for young volunteers to discover other languages and cultures, to step back from their environment and to think about one's place among society, about one's desires and projects.
3 young volunteers will be hosted at CMEF in 2015: Veronika from Czech Republic, Henry from the United Kingdom and Leander from Germany. They will spend between 6 and 8 months at CMEF to take part in the Centre's life: organising animations, accompanying groups of young people hosted at CMEF, helping with administrative tasks. Methods of non formal education will be used for all project's activities.
The project "European Voluntary Service at CMEF" will have an obvious impact on the personal development of the young volunteers and of the people who will be in daily contact with them. This encounter will also allow to develop open-mindedness and tolerance among the local population.
We hope that, on a long-term basis, this project will contribute to a better knowledge of the European programmes and to a higher participation of civil society as a whole to the European construction.
