The project “Series of contemporary authors” is based on the translation from their original languages into Albanian of eight books of fiction genre from different European authors, their publication and their promotion. Some of the books proposed represent a strong and an outstanding literary merit, such as Claudio Magris’s or Asia Diebar’s; some of them are innovative, and some of them, the less known ones, are the works of winners of “European Union Prize for Literature” which represent very diverse contemporary literary perception of reality as much as esthetical diversity. The selection process of these authors was performed by a jury of professionals, professors and writers, who followed these three criteria: powerful artistic quality, powerful message, innovative, provocative, and the books which feed the reader’s curiosity about cultures less known for us. The authors of the less known languages in this proposed collection, such as Bulgarian, Croatian, etc, are supposed to have a high attendance since there are only a very few books already translated from these country in Albania. Another author, from Ireland, Joseph O’Neill, even he writes in a big language as English is, still will attract a lot of audience, because, except one book of Joyce, the Irish authors are not translated in Albania before. And we consider each author a representative of their country literature tradition, from the esthetical aspect. As described before, another selection criteria were the topics these books are written about and the message they offer: the intercultural communication, globalization, migration, gender issues, identity in the new reality of Europe etc. Since the majority of audience is interested more about the story, it makes a kind of guarantee for us as publisher to aim a considerable market. So we tried to open a bigger frame of literature through this selection.With a careful translation, design and promotion, we hope to be efficient in our selection.
