1. CONTEXTThe Santo Domingo School is a pre-school and a Primary and a Special Education School. It has 256 students from 3 to 12 years old. These students are divided into three units of Early Childhood Education, 11 units of Primary Education, 1 unit of remedial Education, 2 classrooms of Especial Education, Support for the Integration, 1 Hearing and language unit and two other specific classrooms of Special Education. The school is located in a socially and economically disadvantaged neighbourhood with unemployed parents and with a high number of broken homes.2. PROJECT OBJECTIVESOBJECTIVE regarding Area nº 1-To improve the learning results and the linguistic, mathematical, social and civic skills of our students.OBJECTIVE , Area nº 2- To acquire and share new methodological and organizational methods from new institutions through observation of professionals who use best practices.OBJECTIVE, Area nº 3-To promote innovative processes by using more attractive programmes which favour the quality and inclusive education.3.NUMBER AND PROFILE OF THE PARTICIPANTS.There are a total of six members of the school who will participate in this Project:-Headmistress and Head of Studies.-Two Teachers of the school.-Two teacher-training advisers of our School.All of them believe in the necessity of methodological changes for the effectiveness and innovation in the teaching and learning processes.4. DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITIESArea nº1-Organization of activities inside the classroom through cooperative work techniques.- Playful activities to motivate the students to use the foreign language.- Communicative exchange with other European students through different educational programmes in English.- Elaboration of new didactic sequences in non-linguistic areas.Area nº2- Attendance to training courses in Norway and Ireland.- Workshop about socio-emotional education.- Creation of a parents’ school to promote awareness about the importance of minor’s training and parents’ responsibility.- Doors open day to bring the families closer to the school.Area nº 3- Seminar for the dissemination of the acquired experiences.- Activities that are part of our Project “School, a Place of Peace”- Contact with European centres that we have previously visited during this project to carry out coordinated activities.- Sharing via the school blog and social networks all those activities that we have carried out. 5. METHODOLOGY USED TO CARRY OUT THE PROJECT PLANNINGIt IT is needed to identify the necessities, to establish priorities and to select those interventions that might help improve the final situation. It is also necessary to design the main objectives and the programme assessment as well as to suggest some activities. Finally, there is a selection of the participants and collaborators.PROGRAMME IMPLEMENTATION: duration and interventions specification, start of the activities, activities follow up and its impact and dissemination.ASSESSMENT: Analysis and assessment of the objectives, processes, and participants’ expectations as well as the results, the impact and the dissemination. 6. RESULTS DESCRIPTIONArea susceptible to improvement nº1a) Improving the students’ skills, their academic performance in the main subjects and improving in the foreign language by using more motivating activities.b)Participating in professional networks and interventions in matters of innovation and educational improvement.Area susceptible to improve nº2a) Getting to know and sharing new organizational and pedagogical strategies to reduce absenteeism and to improve our students’ performance.b) Making use of the educational interventions previously learned in the observation period. Area susceptible to improve nº3a) Implementing methodological and organizational changes to favour the quality and inclusive education.b)Using other teaching methods for diversity in a context of best practices7.EXPECTED IMPACT AND LONG-TERM BENEFITSThe participants:-The transfer of experiences in the observation process with successful educational interventions.-The improvement reached thanks to the training courses to favour the inclusive and quality education.The participating organizations:- The establishment of professional relationships with European teachers to start collaborative projects (Etwinning and/or K2).-The knowledge of the advantages that involve participating in an Erasmus + project.The students:- Improvement of their academic performance and their foreign language my means of more motivating activities.-Interaction, by means of collaborative work, with European students.The family:-Knowledge of the culture and values of other European countries via their children’s experience.-Satisfaction improvement about the school organization and operation.Other educational institutions:- Knowledge of other successful European initiatives in education.- Creation of professional European networks.
